‘Gather’ with Minerva’s Books & Ideas, hosted by Amy Tsilemanis (Tinderbox Radio) is a show about the lives of books and the ideas they ignite and illuminate. Each episode explores a theme, stories unfurled from the seed of a book/s, and creates a gathering of people, sounds, and ponderings across time and across art forms; a celebration of curiosity, connection and creativity.
Set up and first episode out in December 2020, was proudly supported by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia, and administered in Victoria by Regional Arts Victoria, and the second half of the Season was supported by Creative Victoria, including some accessibility upgrades. He says “for deaf people reading a book, they imagine actions in actual, e.g. movie actions.’ Also dancing. Always dancing. Enjoy!

Welcome to Minerva’s Books & Ideas, and home of bookish podcast Gather, hosted by Amy Tsilemanis. In this show we explore the lives of books and the ideas they ignite and illuminate. Each episode is woven around a theme, using a particular book or books as the seed and includes the work of artists, musicians, writers and thinkers, and is accompanied by a hand-cut collage made by Amy in response to the theme.
With support from Creative Victoria, the first season of 8 episodes is now available with transcriptions, and website updates have been made that we hope will make it easier for all people to access the show, whether it be through sound, text or visual means.
Go to the podcast tab from the home menu and enjoy!
Gather is dreamt up and produced in Ballarat on beautiful Wadawurrung country. It is an extension of all the things we love at Minerva’s: bringing together people, ideas, books and creativity; bringing together past, present and maybe the future; and bringing together different kinds of art and storytelling.
We invite you to explore and enjoy with the episode themes of Booksellers & Storytellers, Travel, Songlines, Myth and Fairytales, Coming of Age, Adaptation, and Collecting. Regular segments in each episode include Things Found in Books where a guest artist creates a new work in response to ephemera or concepts found in books.
Each episode also features an independent bookshop or book organisation that we think are fabulous.
